We have developed a holistic training system, based on written directions for every possible situation in the child’s everyday life with diabetes. Parents are trained to change insulin doses to be able to correctly monitor their child’s diabetes, without the need of communicating every time with their physician. We use the hyper-intensified system with 1 dose of 24-hr insulin analog and 3-5 doses of rapid analogues before lunches and snacks. We use carbohydrate counting only for everything that is beyond every day quality home-made food. The training we provide and the system we implement is such that we are proud that almost all children we follow have an HbA1c<7%, with the least variation.
